The girls studying for scrutineering....hmm I wonder where the boys are?!

Murphy's Law strikes again breaking Sundancer's front axle.

I'm not sure who she was looking at, but I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that look!

Jacob Bridgman and Chase Eldridge keeping watch over the boys fixing the axle.  What do y'all think about their new socks?!

Mr. Reese giving the newly fixed axle his seal of approval!

Our new invention: A bungee chord and paper towel holder!

With scruitineering starting in a few hours, we are all working hard to get everything ready.  Bad luck struck again with Sundancer's front axle but with teamwork and focus it was repaired in under three hours. Our cars are ready for scruitineering and can't wait to get the clear to begin racing. The official race will be begin Monday afternoon and end Thursday. We are excited about starting the race and would like to thank everyone who has gotten us here!               THANK Y'ALL!

Replacing our cell!

Hillary Colbert taping the empty space left by our broken cell

Whitney George adding adhesive to the new cell in preparation of placing it on our car!

Sydney pulling through the cell's wires to connect them to the array!

After much practice and careful planning Mr. Reese and Whitney George carefully attach our new cell!

Some people believe that when Murphy's Law was stated, it was directed toward solar racing.  Because anything that can go wrong will, and it normally does, our team tries to always be prepared.  Somewhere between Mississippi and Texas one of the solar cells on Sundancer II decided to quit working.  Luckily we were able to fix it in under and hour and it is working great!  Our team is thankful that this is the only problem we have had with our cars and hope for  continued success!

First Morning in Dallas/Fort Worth!

We started our first morning in Texas with an early seven o'clock team meeting!

The Houston Lady Racers getting Sundancer II ready to be tested!

Our team hung up our national and state flag to show our pride!

Sundancer catching a few rays!

Taylor Brand and Whitney George repairing a cell!

With the race starting in a couple days our team has been checking the cars for anything that could have been damaged on the way here.  Everything is checking out fine except for a cell on Sundancer II which is now fixed!  We have set up shop and the hotel and gotten both cars settled in.  Tonight our team plans to take our annual trip to Six Flags for a little fun before the work begins!  We can't wait for the race to begin and to see all of our hard work pay off!

After a two day trip our team has finally made it to Dallas!  In true solar car fashion our bus decided to break down about one hundred miles away from our first night's destination Texarkana, TX.  Thanks to Artex Truck Center our bus was fixed by the next morning and we made great time getting to Dallas!  Our team cannot wait for the race to begin and Sundancer and Sundancer II seem to be in great working condition!  We will be updating constantly throughout the race to keep everyone posted!  You can also check out our Facebook, Twitter (#HoustonRaceTeam), and our instagram (sundancersolarcar)!!

Fourth of July Parade!!

Sundancer leaving the school to start the parade!

To celebrate the fourth, Houston hosted a parade complete with food vendors and live entertainment!  To help celebrate, our team joined the parade in honor of our county's independence!  Despite the heat, there was a good turn-out and everyone seemed pleased with the entertainment. We hope everyone had a happy and most importantly safe Fourth of July!!

Thank You!!

We would like to thank Tag Trucking Center for making a one thousand dollar donation to our team!! The donation will go towards helping fund the race which is only a couple weeks away.  This race wouldn't have been possible without their support and we can't thank them enough!

Our team visiting with Dr. Mobley after the meeting!

On February 20, our team traveled to ICC in Fulton to give a presentation to the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority! It is an organization of teachers who meet throughout the year trying to make a difference in our schools. During the meeting we showed a PowerPoint of our team and cars and explained what our team does. We would like to thank Dr. Mobley for inviting us to come and it was great to see you again! We would also like to thank everyone who prepared the great meal that was provided! We thoroughly enjoyed coming and being of part of the meeting!
